Lil Wayne > Jay-Z?

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Leave it to Bryan "Baby, Birdman" Williams to make sure that his paycheck, artist/adopted son Dwayne "Lil Wayne" Carter stays in the spotlight. Actually, it's not like Lil Wayne ever really leaves the spotlight, or is in need of extra shine time. Between releasing arguably good songs from equally as entertaining albums, tag-teaming the female population with his heart throb protege Drake, unleashing the latest rapping stripper, Nicki Minaj, on an awaiting… Read More

Life Happens.

Wednesday, May 27th, 2009
I know we've been kind of wack as of late. I could try to deny it, but that's not how PT rolls. Chock it up to life changes and twitter's instant gratification. Keeks is getting more responsibility with the youth and I'm in Iowa this very minute trying to rustle up an apartment for the fall. Some landlord just tried to convince me that green shag carpet was the new hotness. She was clearly insane.   But I digress.   Life changes aside, I miss putting my time and my thoughts into Propertalks, and I miss talking with all of you. Keeks and I will strike a balance soon enough,… Read More

Lil Wayne is More Influential than Barack Obama

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009
That headline is not a typo. TIME 100 Influential People of 2009 poll results has Lil Wayne currently listed at #12 and Barack Obama at #37. Maybe a few people actually agreed with Weezy when he said he was a gangsta journalist that won't ask questions.   Clearly this list is not finalized (I hope it's not finalized!), the editors make the final decision, but it does speak volumes about… Read More

Are You Branded?

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

In the spirit of skinny jeans, and personal style I had to let y'all know about Gear Fest at Angela and I's Alma mater, USC, this Saturday. Gear Fest is about elevating individual style over industry trends. This won't be your typical fashion show.    The show is free ninety nine (recession friendly like PT likes it) and U-N-I, Read More

The Gay Storm is a Comin’!

Thursday, April 9th, 2009
That's only if you believe these massive homophobes parading through cyberspace calling themselves the "rainbow coalition". This video will eff up your afternoon if you support gay marriage or even if you have a low tolerance for ignorance. I'm not going to spend energy trying to explain why this ad is a lesson in bigotry because Feministe does a good enough job already.  I had the exact same thought:
A rainbow coalition?  They have a rainbow coalition?  Yay, co-opting… Read More

Draped Coffins

Monday, April 6th, 2009
I thought I was ready to see images of the coffins of fallen soldiers returning home to America. Yet when a row of servicemen stood to salute the coffin of Sgt. Phillip Myers, who was killed on April 4 in Afghanistan, I realized that I might not ever be ready.  Discomfort is a good thing. I hope more families welcome the media to photograph the priceless cost of war.  Maybe then we'll be moved to say, enough.   [caption id="" align="alignnone" width="432" caption="Brendan Smialowski for The New York Times"]Read More
