Chicago Fight

The Derrion Albert story reminds me of one of the more brillant moments on Sundance's Brick City. A student at Central High had been shot outside of the campus and the principal, Ras Baraka, gathered the student body to talk about it. He told them it was not normal to have classmates die, to fear walking home from school, or to wear rest in peace… Read More

Notes on Brick City: Part 1 and 2

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Sundance's Brick City is the only reality TV show worth watching this week. Angela started grad school in Iowa (hand clap for Ang y'all) and I've been dodging the Swine Flu (I swear when I got back to work my coworkers started avoiding me like I was President Carter). I'm also attempting to navigate my twenties without losing my bearings. Right… Read More

I'd like to apologize to all the folk that wanted to kill me for bragging about  my tickets to The Ecstatic tour. Y'all are just going to have to deal with me because I'm still hype about seeing Jay Electronica, Ms. Badu and the mighty Mos Def at the Palladium in Hollywood. I will be talking about that show forever. The Ecstactic Tour is the best show I've seen all year… Read More
