Keep Chicks on They Back Like Kwame Kil-Pat-Trick

RemaatWork and I spotted one of my favorite Detroit natives, Dwele, while waiting for valet in Hollywood last night, so I immediately thought about that line from his latest album about keeping chicks on their back, when I heard that ALL of the text messages between the former Mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick, and his chief of staff, Christine Beatty, were released this week.

The self-proclaimed hip-hop mayor recently served 99 days in jail for obstruction of justice after he lied about his affair with Beatty. He has been accused of committing perjury, covering up the murder of a stripper who was murdered at a wild party at the mayor’s mansion in 2003, and a whole bunch of other foolishness. Oddly enough, he’s most famous for the corny ass sext messages exchanged between him and Beatty.

Now Kilpatrick is suing over the release of those texts. He’s probably just mad they hit the Internets before he could publish a tell-all book. I would’ve bought that joint, but now I can read the texts for free. You can too, here or here.

Word is Christine will be released from jail on Monday after serving the same sentence as the mayor, though it sounds like she won’t be working anytime soon:

“She does not have Peter Karmanos waiting for her,” [Beatty's Pastor] said, referring to the Detroit businessman who hired Kilpatrick after his release from jail. “All she has is her family and her children. There is no offer of employment.” [Source]

Maybe Kwame can text her a few job opportunities.
