Or anyone for that matter.  Prince told the LA Times that he didn’t vote at all this year:

“Jehovah’s Witnesses haven’t voted for their whole inception.” The controversy over a recent New Yorker “Talk of the Town” item, which Prince feels implied he supported the gay-marriage ban, has upset him. It’s the first thing he wanted to discuss when the Web geeks had gone and we were alone. “I have friends that are gay and we study the Bible together,” he said. He added that two sides fighting “only benefit the third person” who instigated the fight.

 

Never mind Prince choosing to not participate in his future, anytime anyone makes it a point to say they have gay friends, or black friends, or white friends, or Chinese friends, whatever, I immediately think they are lying their ass off.  Or at the very least they feel like they deserve a gold star for sitting down with “the others,” because they secretly think the others are a bunch of freaks.   This coming from The Symbol, the prince of freakiness, is shocking.

 

What I’m really interested in though, is this “third person” he mentions.  What third party benefits from people going head to head over Prop 8?  Gays are stripped of fundamental rights and the states miss out on all the extra dough they could get from marriage licenses and other wedding perks. So, curious minds, would like to know. 

 

 

On another note, the most interesting thing about the LAT’s article is that Prince is supposedly returning back to his “When Doves Cry” sound.  That’s great for music and if things work out like I hope so, it’s a good move for  television.  Maybe Dave Chappelle will be inspired to come out of hiding and do more imitations of the purple royalty.   Or am I hoping for too much?
