It depends on who you ask. The NY Times is reporting that the White House rejected a request by the Obamas to move into Blair House on January 5.  They were hoping to move in early so little Sasha and Malia could begin the school year after winter break.  Blair House is the little (well actually, it’s quite big) house across the street from the White House where incoming presidents usually stay with their families five days before the inauguration.  The White House says the house is booked and the next first family will just have to wait until January 15 to move in, like all the other presidents had to do.   They won’t say who booked the place, but I doubt it’s anyone more important than the first black president of the United States.  Humph!  I wonder who leaked this tidbit of info to the press?

The first lady Bush’s spokesperson said that it’s not that big of a deal and people are trying to make a big story out of nothing (the huffpo currently has it at the top of their page).  She’s right. It’s not that big of a deal - I’m sure there are plenty of DC residents more than willing to take in the Obamas – but I just like to make the current administration look like first class a-holes anytime I can.  Carry on.
