We Taking Ova’ but What About Condi?
The Black Snob has a profile of all the women of color soon to invade the White House. I agree with The Snob, it feels good to see all these women do their thang, but I can’t help but feel for Condi. The Internets never showed their adoration for her as we’ve done for these other women, aka Michelle and ‘em. Sure Condi was shooting for the wrong team, but she still managed to prove that she has an ounce of intelligence even while serving as the mouthpiece for a hideous administration. She clearly has had higher ranking positions than any of the new bunch, but I guess being a tool for the Bush did her in.
Which bears the question: when she finally leaves the Big House, how will the annals of black history judge her? Another Clarence Thomas? Or slightly vindicated like Colin Powell? Will her past grievances on behalf of the Bush be forgiven, or will she be forever shadowed by the newest influx of powerful black women that have moved their way into the hearts and souls of a whole lotta black folk?

Condi will be just fine, I hear she is being courted by a major NBA team for the top management spot. She has been known to say she would love to do something along that line. She is a brilliant woman who just wants a job that is not so serious and uptight next time around.

Condi will be remembered fondly by most Americans, I suspect. Rice did her level best to correct a deeply flawed war strategy and help give us a chance to win a war that we had lost by 2006. She singlehandedly pushed through the atomic agreement with India, a treaty that will create a vast new understanding with a new superpower, one which could contain Chinese ambitions. She probably stopped an unneccessary war against Iran, and she repaired relations with the Europeans that had been needlessly damaged by both sides of the Atlantic Alliance in the first Administration. By my lights, she did well in a time of war. State Department is always a weak department in wartime, and for her to get as much done as she did is quite an achievement.
For all that, she doesn’t get credit in the black community because she is a conservative Republican. One black blogger once wrote several years ago that were she a liberal Democrat, parades would be held in her honor. Perhaps this will change with the passage of time. History, however, will regard her rather well as the partisanship and nearness to the Bush Administration fades. It is to her credit that she has proceeded, for the most part, without a second thought as to some sort of legacy. I have always admired her for the fact that she is resolved to follow her own convictions and a different drummer. In that, she has always stood alone. There is a deep nobility in that.
As to Condi’s immediate future outside of politics, she appears to be headed to the NFL to manage the San Francisco 49′ers, a club in desperate need of someone who can crack the whip and get them a new stadium in Santa Clara.

Hey thanks for the Condi Bio information, very interesting. I am happy to hear she is headed to a management role in the NFL. I am sure she will be quite successful and perhaps have some fun while she is at it.
